Alec Ross Steele
Alec Ross Steele is a director, cinematographer, writer, and a recent graduate of USC School of Cinematic Arts’ MFA in Film Production program. Alec has had a passion for storytelling of all forms from a young age, but was especially drawn to New Media and Film. After graduating from La Quinta High School in 2015, Alec attended UC Berkeley where he earned his BFA in Film Studies in just two years. Outside the classroom, Alec used his time at Berkeley to develop as a filmmaker by writing and directing short films, engage in writer’s rooms within his Cinematic Business Fraternity Delta Kappa Alpha, and take his first plunge into commercial film production. In the first semester of his undergrad studies, Alec became a founding member of DKA Business Productions, a non-profit student run organization that creates promotional and commercial films for UC Berkeley, other student organizations, and businesses in the community. During its second semester of operation, DKA Business Productions became one of the most financially successful student run organization at UC Berkeley, reporting a revenue of $20,000 between January and May of 2016. At USC, Alec has continued to develop as a filmmaker through writing and directing his own short films (On Guard, Chair, Narcissism) while also working as a cinematographer for other students. Alec continued to make short films throughout quarantine, even managing to complete his Graduate Thesis film Sundown and his degree in the Fall of 2021.
